Description

Yesterday was published one of the most anticipated dinosaurs to describe, described in the journal Proceedings of the Royal Society is a sauropod of which many were aware since the spring of 2014 and now Carballido et al. Describing and naming, I have read and imagined since before it was published that this great sauropod actually did not surpass Argentinosaurus huinculensis in size, length and mass. For the moment I only reply a comment with which I agree with the scientific researcher Rubén Molina-Pérez; "The bones are large, but they do not surpass Argentinosaurus neither in length nor in circumference of femur. The good thing is the complete of the specimens, will help much to calculate the measures of several species." And another of the scientific researcher Asier Larramendi; "On the other hand, the thoracic 6 of Patagotitan (the largest) has a anterior-posterior length in its vertebral body of 43 cm, while the largest thoracic vertebra of Argentinosaurus is estimated to be about 50 cm." Other information that is of much interest is what Matt Wedel says on his SVPOW blog, svpow.com/2017/08/09/dont-beli… which also inclines to the opinions that Patago is not as big as Argentine. Now the question is, did Patagotitan outweigh Argentinosaurus if, or not? Let the personal reflection and the opinion of the scientists answer this, for the moment it is more than great to have a titanosaurus Lognkosauria quite "complete".
A quick reconstruction, then a more detailed and better founded, for the moment I was based on the skeletal diagram of the article of Carballido and the diagram by Scott Hartman of Futalognkosaurus (The skull should be short and tall like that of Malawisaurus, something that is I overlooked when doing the diagram of the Carballido article). The scale bar represents 5 meters, and the girl measures 1.65 meters high. (-Sorry if the translation is wrong, it's automatic and I do not take the time to review it-)

Saw this at the AMNH, it's not actually very big.
